Robinhood Cove Maine Oysters (Georgetown, ME)

Robinhood Cove Oysters feature a delicate and uniquely rare flavor balance of "not too sweet and not too briny" that continues to win acclaim from our customers and restauranteurs at home and abroad.

Georgetown Island Maine

Historic Georgetown is a close community centered around our marine economy. For over three hundred years the island’s backbone was boat building, fin fishing, digging for clams, oysters, and worms, mussel picking, ground fishing, urchin harvesting, shrimping, and lobstering. The challenges of a changing coastal economy and the changes occurring in the Gulf of Maine inspired the formation of the Georgetown Island Oyster Cooperative in 2017. We met those challenges by diversifying our marine economy while preserving our traditional livelihood. Comprised of eight independent farmers, we share space, equipment, ideas, and labor. We take great pride in the quality and consistency of our product. Whether you receive oysters grown by any one of us, your purchase positively impacts our community.

Georgetown Island is sandwiched between the Sheepscot and Kennebec Rivers, with Robinhood Cove nearly bisecting the island. The Cove provides us optimum conditions with cold water inflow from the Sheepscot, current through the tide cycle, nutrient-rich marsh outflow, and open water through winter. The result is oysters that embody the rare balance of not too sweet and not too briny. The unique delicate flavor of the Georgetown Island oyster quickly garnered raves and favor from our customers and restauranteurs at home and abroad.

Our Robinhood Cove Oysters are available to buy online for overnight shipping to your door. Sourced directly from local Oyster farm Georgetown Island Oysters, of Georgetown, Maine.
